DAY 1. SAN SALVADOR
Welcome at Airport, transfer to your hotel. Typical dinner and accommodation.
DAY 2. SAN SALVADOR
Breakfast. Departure to visit a variety of colonial churches and important monuments of the modern Republican Time; among those visiting are 1) The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadeloupe, 2) monument in the Belfry of La Merced Church, 3) The Church of Our Lady of Candelaria, 4) Metropolitan Cathedral with a facade of the country’s most representative art, although the previous building was wood and sheet since 1888 and it then was destroyed by a fire. It had Gothic details. Its reconstruction lasted 50 years. 5) The Calvary Church, downtown in San Salvador, with its high vaults in crosshead denotes a fine example of Gothic architecture. Lunch. 6) Panchimalco, where we will visit the Holy Cross Church, a colonial Church dating from 1725. Accommodation.
DAY 3. SAN SALVADOR - SANTA ANA
Breakfast. We will travel to Metapán, where we will first visit the Church of St. Peter the Apostle, which is Baroque style, altarpiece facade type. In this city there are the ruins of the Ostua Church in the village of the canton San Jerónimo; the facade is the only remain, which is a kind of altarpiece. We will continue our trip to Texistepeque, this church is Baroque with altarpiece type facade, and was built in the eighteenth century, in honour to the Virgin of Bethlehem of Guija. After lunch, we will move to the city of Santa Ana, where you will visit the Cathedral, dedicated to Our Lady of Santa Ana, the construction of the parish church of Santa Ana started on January 21, 1906 and February 11, 1913 it was consecrated as a cathedral of the New Diocese. This church is gothic style, in contrast to the Spanish colonial style of most of the cathedrals of El Salvador and the rest of Latin America. We will continue visiting the churches of El Carmen and San Lorenzo, also with distinctive architecture and located on the outskirts of the Santa Ana city. Accommodation in Santa Ana City.
DAY 4. SANTA ANA - APANECA
Breakfast. Transfer to Chalchuapa to admire the Church. Here we visit the colonial church of Santiago Apostle, built in the eighteenth century, baroque style, and its facade is as much altarpiece style with 3 bodies. Next, we visit the village of Concepcion de Ataco, where we visit the church with fine finishes of the last century. Then in Tacuba, we will go around the city and then visit the church, built in the sixteenth century or early XVII. Its facade is a Baroque altarpiece, and its front with three bodies. The church itself retains part of the facade of a sidewall, and part of the rear wall. There are also two chapels. Apaneca: we will see the church in reconstruction because of the damage of the earthquakes in the year 2001. Accommodation.
DAY 5. APANECA - SAN SALVADOR
After breakfast, departure to the city of Juayúa, we will visit the Santa Lucía Church, built between 1953 and 1956, its high altar is covered in marble, stained glass windows and pictures, all them came from Europe. Salcoatitán: the temple is dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, patron of the city, the church dates from 1824. Nahuizalco, its colonial church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. We will
continue along Sonsonate, and visit the Church la Virgen Del Pilar, built in 1723. It is surrounded by a baroque style atrium. Its facade is divided into three altarpiece type bodies. We will continue the Church of San Antonio del Monte, completed on January 30, 1861. This town was founded by Dominican friars in the early eighteenth century. In the town of Izalco, we will visit two churches: The Church of Dolores, built prior to 1570, and the Church of Assumption, which is in the Baroque style. The facade is kind of altarpiece and consists of two parts. The bottom is decorated with two pairs of Tuscan columns on each side of the main access. In 1580 the bell was consecrated by the Emperor Carlos I of Spain and V of Germany. Accommodation in San Salvador.
DAY 6. SAN SALVADOR- SUCHITOTO
After breakfast, we will drive to Apopa, to visit the Church of Santa Catarina Virgin and Martyr. Then we will go to La Palma, in Chalatenango, where Salvadoran artist Fernando Llort achieved the inspiration, he who created the 'art of Palma' or naif art. This art has its cradle in this town and this style became so symbolic that this artist was commissioned to design the facade of the current Metropolitan Cathedral of San Salvador. We will also go to the town bordering Honduras, Citalá. The visit of the Pilar Church, built probably in the late seventeenth century or early in the eighteenth century. It has colonial images and parish documents of the eighteenth century. This ancient town, in the past, was part of an eastern region of the country called "hueytlato" or primitive Tula. In the Chorti Maya-language this name means "River of Stars". At Villa Suchitoto, we will visit the Church of Saint Lucia, which was built in 1855. Dinner at Restaurant in the area. Accommodation.
DAY 7.SUCHITOTO - COMALAPA
After breakfast, we will drive to Ilobasco, here we visit the St. Michael the Archangel Church. Then we will visit the San Sebastian Church. We will also travel to the City of San Vicente, to see the colonial church del Pilar. Built of brick and tile, it is of great aesthetic effect. Then we will take the Panoramic Highway to visit the churches of San Miguel Tepezontes and Parish of Olocuilta, these are very small populations characterized by the tranquillity and splendour of its landscapes. DIA 1. SAN SALVADOR
Recibimiento en Aeropuerto, Traslado a su hotel. Cena típica y Alojamiento.
DIA 2. San SALVADOR
Desayuno. Salida para visitar una variedad de iglesias entre coloniales y monumentos importantes de la Época Republicana y moderna; entre las que visitaremos están, 1) La Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, 2) monumento del Campanario de La Iglesia La Merced, 3) La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, 4) Catedral Metropolitana con una fachada del arte más representativo del país, aunque la construcción anterior consistía en madera y lámina desde 1888 y fue posteriormente destruida por un incendio el 8 de agosto de 1951. Tenía detalles góticos. Su reconstrucción duró 50 años. 5) Iglesia El Calvario en el centro de la ciudad de San Salvador con sus altas bóvedas en cruceta denotan un bello ejemplo de arquitectura gótica. Almuerzo. 6) Panchimalco, donde visitaremos la Iglesia Santa Cruz, Iglesia colonial que data de 1725.Alojamiento.
DIA 3. SAN SALVADOR - SANTA ANA
Desayuno. Salida para Metapán. Visitaremos en primer lugar la Iglesia de San Pedro Apóstol, de estilo Barroco, con una fachada de tipo retablo. En esta misma ciudad se encuentran las ruinas de la Iglesia Portada Ostua en el caserío del cantón de San Jerónimo de la cual solamente queda en pie la fachada de tipo retablo, continuando hasta Texistepeque, esta iglesia es de estilo barroco con fachada tipo retablo, y fue construida en el siglo XVIII, en honor a la Virgen de Belén de Guija. Después de almorzar, nos trasladaremos hacia la ciudad de Santa Ana, donde visitaremos su Catedral, dedicada a nuestra Señora de Santa Ana, El 21 de enero de 1906 comenzó la construcción de la iglesia parroquial de Santa Ana y el 11 de febrero de 1913 se consagró como Catedral de la Nueva Diócesis. Esta iglesia es de estilo Gótico, en contraste con el estilo colonial español de la mayor parte de las catedrales de El Salvador y el resto de América latina. Continuaremos visitando las iglesias de El Carmen y San Lorenzo, también con peculiar arquitectura y ubicadas en los alrededores de la ciudad de Santa Ana. Alojamiento en Santa Ana.
DIA 4. SANTA ANA - APANECA
Desayuno. Salida hacia Chalchuapa para admirar su Iglesia. Aquí visitaremos la colonial iglesia de Santiago Apóstol, construida en el Siglo XVIII con un estilo barroco, su fachada como muchas es de estilo retablo con 3 cuerpos. A continuación, visitaremos el pueblo de Concepción de Ataco, donde visitaremos la iglesia con finos acabados del siglo pasado. Luego en Tacuba haremos un recorrido por la ciudad para luego visitar la iglesia, construida en el siglo XVI o a principios del XVII. Su fachada es de tipo retablo y su estilo barroco con frontal de tres cuerpos. De la iglesia en sí solo conserva parte de la fachada de una pared lateral y parte de la pared posterior. También existen dos capillas. Apaneca: veremos su iglesia en reconstrucción por los daños que sufriera en los terremotos del año 2001. Alojamiento.
DIA5. APANECA - SAN SALVADOR
Desayuno. Salida para la ciudad de Juayúa, allí visitaremos la iglesia de Santa Lucía, construida entre 1953 y 1956, su altar mayor está revestido de mármol, sus vitrales e imágenes llegaron de Europa. Salcoatitán: su templo está dedicado a San Miguel Arcángel, patrono de la ciudad, cuya iglesia data de 1824, Nahuizalco, su iglesia colonial dedicada a San Juan Bautista. Continuando hacia Sonsonate, visitaremos la Iglesia de la Virgen del Pilar, construida en el año 1723. Está rodeada de un atrio y su estilo es Barroco. Su fachada es de tipo retablo dividido en tres cuerpos. Continuaremos a la Iglesia de San Antonio del Monte, terminada el 30 de enero de 1861. Fundado el pueblo por frailes dominicos a principios del siglo XVIII. Pasaremos a la villa de Izalco, para visitar dos iglesias: La Iglesia de Dolores, construida antes de 1570, y la Iglesia de Asunción, la cual es de estilo barroco. La fachada es de tipo retablo y consta de dos cuerpos. El inferior está decorado con dos pares de columnas toscanas a cada lado del acceso principal. En 1580 fue consagrada la campana obsequiada por el Emperador Carlos I de España y V de Alemania. Alojamiento en San Salvador.
DIA 6. SAN SALVADOR- SUCHITOTO
Desayuno. Salida para Apopa, para visitar la Iglesia Santa Catarina Virgen y Mártir. A continuación, iremos a La Palma, en Chalatenango, lugar que logró la inspiración del artista salvadoreño Fernando Llort, quien creara el ‘arte de la Palma’ o arte naif. Este arte tiene su cuna en este pueblo y tal estilo llegó a ser tan emblemático que se encomendó a este artista que diseñara la fachada de la actual Catedral Metropolitana de San Salvador. Iremos a la población fronteriza con Honduras, Citalá. Visitaremos La Iglesia del Pilar, construida posiblemente a finales del siglo XVII o a principios del siglo XVIII. Posee imágenes coloniales y documentos parroquiales del siglo XVIII. Esta antiquísima población, en tiempos remotos, formó parte de una región oriental del país llamada “hueytlato” o primitiva Tula. En idioma maya-chortí su nombre significa “Río de las estrellas “. En la Villa de Suchitoto, visitaremos la Iglesia de Santa Lucía, construida en 1855. Cena en Restaurante de la zona. Alojamiento.
DIA7.SUCHITOTO - COMALAPA
Desayuno. Salida para Ilobasco, aquí visitaremos la Iglesia San Miguel Arcángel. Luego visitaremos la iglesia de San Sebastián. Luego viajaremos hacia la Ciudad de San Vicente, donde se encuentra la iglesia colonial del Pilar. Construida de mampostería y teja, es de gran efecto estético. Luego tomaremos la Carretera Panorámica para visitar las iglesias de San Miguel Tepezontes y la Parroquia de Olocuilta, poblaciones muy pequeñas que se caracterizan por la tranquilidad y el esplendor de sus paisajes.
