Our old and young, active and inactive volcanoes are the cause of the excellent fertility of our lands, which results in a green colour of the landscape during the rainy season. The following tourist routes are focused on the landscape and the excellent climate that goes from the cool mountains to the warm beaches with sand and surges that prompts people to relaxation and rest.
MONTECRITO, This national park is a cloud forest with abundance of flora and fauna of the region. Inventories there of the breeding season birds show relative abundances of birds in cloud forest, pine-oak forest, and Mexican cypress plantations.
More than 250 bird species, ten bird species in El Salvador are restricted to Montecristo National Park, and five of these to the cloud forest.
VOLCANIC COMPLEX
Route for nature and adventure, this route also has beautiful landscapes and volcano climbing.
The region includes: Los Andes Natural Site, Cerro Verde Volcano, Ilamatepec or Santa Ana Volcano, Izalco Volcano, Volcanic Crater and Lago Coatepeque
El Impossible National park, a dry tropical forest, the largest and most bio-diverse wilderness area, is shelter of species of already extinct fauna in other regions, and location of species of flora recently discovered by modern science. It is the source of 8 rivers which provide water to surrounding communities and feeds mangroves, another wilderness area of ecological importance to the country.
FLOWERS ROUTE
Located in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range, including the departments of Sonsonate and Ahuachapan, this tour includes 5 towns: Nahuizalco, Salcoatitán, Juayúa, Apaneca and Ataco.
When travelling in this route, tourists will discover all these cities with cultural and historical tradition, an area of attractive natural resources, excellent climate and gorgeous landscapes caused by the coffee plantations.
